Microsoft hat im Rahmen des Patchday für Dezember 2018 ein Update auf die Version 16.20 für Office 2019 für Mac veröffentlicht. Mit diesem Update erhält Office 2019 die Unterstützung für den Dunkelmodus von macOS Mojave. Der Dunkelmodus setzt macOS Mojave voraus und kann mit Word, Excel, Outlook und PowerPoint verwendet werden: Ein dunkler Hintergrund – hier Office 2019 für Windows abgebildet – schont die Augen in Umgebungen mit wenig Licht, von daher sollte das Feature in solchen Umgebungen verwendet werden. Zusätzlich zu den neuen Funktionen umfasst das Update weitere Neuerungen, diese lassen sich weiter unten einsehen. Das Update umfasst auch wichtige Sicherheitsupdates. Das Update mit der Versions-Nummer 16.20 setzt ein Mac mit macOS 10.12 Sierra und höher voraus und kann sowohl über Microsoft AutoUpdate als auch bei Microsoft geladen werden.
