Auch wenn es sich viele langjährige Benutzer des Betriebssystems gewünscht haben dürften, ein klassisches Startmenü, wie wir es von früheren Versionen des Betriebssystems seit mindestens Windows 95 kennen, wird es für das neueste Betriebssystem Windows 8 oder 8.1 aus dem Hause Microsoft wohl nicht geben, zumindest nicht von Microsoft selber. Um gleich zum klassischen Startmenü unter Windows 8 zu kommen, muss ich gleich sagen, dass ich es anfangs doch sehr vermisst habe. Man hatte sich halt dran gewöhnt, dass das Startmenü einfach da ist, auch wenn man diese kaum genutzt hat. Kaum ist das Startmenü unter Windows 8 nicht mehr da, wird es genauso wie beim Übergang von Office 2003 zu 2007 oder 2010 als man beim erstmaligen öffnen von bei Word, Excel oder PowerPoint mit schrecken feststellen musste, dass sich so gut wie gar nichts mehr an der Stelle befindet, an der es bei Word, Excel oder PowerPoint 2003 war, von allen gefordert und als eine nicht akzeptable Lösung empfunden.

Solltest du dich noch nicht damit abgefunden haben oder damit angefreundet haben, dass das klassische Startmenü unter Windows 8 fehlt, dann solltest du die kostenlos erhältliche Open Source Software Lösung ClassicShell auch wenn nur übergangsweise ausprobieren. Übergangsweise, da ich mir ziemlich sicher bin, dass im Laufe der Zeit keiner von uns das neue Windows 8 missen wollen wird, und auch das anfangs Fehlende Startmenü kaum brauchen wird.
