Microsoft gab in einem Blogbeitrag im Office Team Blog bekannt, dass die nächste Version von Office den RTM-Status erreicht hat. Ab Mitte November 2012 will der Softwarekonzern die RTM-Version des neuen Office 2013 zunächst für Enterprise-Kunden mit Volumenlizenz sowie TechNet- beziehungsweise MSDN-Abonnenten freigeben. Die allgemeine Verfügbarkeit von Office 2013 ist laut Microsoft für das erste Quartal 2013 eingeplant. Jeder Anwender, der ab dem 19. Oktober 2012 eine Lizenz von Microsoft Office 2010 erwirbt, wird zu einem kostenlosen Upgrade berechtigt sein, sobald die neue Bürosuite offiziell erhältlich ist, so Microsoft.
